Week #7

Hello Readers,
I can’t believe we are near the end of the class. Well the research process has been a new and exciting thing for me. I am still new to this type of researching. I am slowly getting the hang of it. During my research, I was actually able to locate a book for my research topic. I have added several journals to my research topic. I believe I have covered all sides to my topic. I do believe that I am slowly grasping the concepts of annotated bibliographies.  Well hope you all have a good week.

The article is was a product of a studied conducted on “Use of Force” incidents in America that resulted in death. The authors are medical doctors in their respective practices. This article will help with the research because I will have an opposition to my research. This gives me an opposition to my research topic and allows me to cover all sides.

LBSU WK#6

Hello Readers,

I hope you are all well and enjoying this research project. Plagiarism is definitely no joke. I am glad I had a refresher on this since I hadn't taken a college course in a few years. It's pretty cut and dry stuff. If you borrow the information give the credit that is deserved.

My research has been going well. I recently used the Directory Of Open Access Journals. I had never realized such things existed. The information provide an been so rewarding to my research. I located an article that can also help me explain two different sides to my research. Till next time.

LBSU Wk #5

Hello fellow readers,

Hope you are all enjoying your time in the class. This week research was a little different. Since taking this course, I have used many different databases. I never knew how much information or even databases there where.

Some new ideas that I have come up with are using the different databases. Also new ideas in narrowing down my searches. The information that I have discovered has allowed me to take a different approach on how I was to discuss my research topic. I don't plan to change my topic. I plan to add more information on becoming an officer. I think it would help the reader better understand the research topic. I was never one to do more than a internet search for information. This has definitely been a positive experience for me.

LBSU 302 Week #4

Hello Readers,
My research began this week with using Leatherby Library. We were instructed to locate and use a peer reviewed journal article. I was able to locate a journal article called, “Reforming Police Use-Of-Force Practices: A Case Study of the Cincinnati Police Department." I think this article is well written and helps me able to better construct my research. It also helps me better understand my topic. I have to get better at using different keywords to get more articles. I have never really used a peer reviewed journal article so this is new to me.

LBSU 302 Week #3

Hello Readers,

This week my research on books started with using the Leatherby Library. I began to look into the E-books portion of the website. I believed that by using the keyword, “Police Brutality,” it would open more to me. I was then able to locate the e-book, Police Misconduct in America: A Reference Handbook. I was able to read into the book. I was able to locate valuable information that I could use in my research topic.

Some of the research struggles that I had during this time were, being too general in my keywords or just trying to find any book. I’m hoping to get further in-depth in my research assignment.
