LBSU 302 Week #4

Hello Readers,

My research began this week with using Leatherby Library. We were instructed to locate and use a peer reviewed journal article. I was able to locate a journal article called, “Reforming Police Use-Of-Force Practices: A Case Study of the Cincinnati Police Department." I think this article is well written and helps me able to better construct my research. It also helps me better understand my topic. I have to get better at using different keywords to get more articles. I have never really used a peer reviewed journal article so this is new to me.

LBSU 302 Week #3

Hello Readers,

This week my research on books started with using the Leatherby Library. I began to look into the E-books portion of the website. I believed that by using the keyword, “Police Brutality,” it would open more to me. I was then able to locate the e-book, Police Misconduct in America: A Reference Handbook. I was able to read into the book. I was able to locate valuable information that I could use in my research topic.

Some of the research struggles that I had during this time were, being too general in my keywords or just trying to find any book. I’m hoping to get further in-depth in my research assignment.

LBSU 302 Assignement #2

Hello Reader, it’s time to blog for this week. Hope you are all doing well. My research topic is on Use of Force: What is excessive. This topic has been a big issue lately in the law enforcement world from the Zimmerman trial and just recently a law enforcement officer shooting an unarmed man seeking help.

I began my research using the Leatherby Library and Findlaw.com. I searched Use of Force in both websites.  There is an unbelievable amount of information regarding Use of Force. I narrowed down my search to how the whole “Use of Force” came to light. How did Use of Force come to be? Usually when someone makes a mistake or has an accident, a policy or procedure is made so that it doesn’t happen again. This is exactly like law as I see it. I was able to gather a foundation of information to help me with this topic.

I will continue to look into other cases that may be interesting. Have a safe and good week.
